Project Reflection

Over the past three weeks, my brother an I have been under intense workouts almost daily with this new workout plan; which was suggested to us with the help of our mentor. Before I was assigned this project, I was personally quite a flake when it came to going to the gym and taking care of my body. However, I have recently been enlightened and motivated to become like my mentor in that, not only am I huge and shredded, but that I know the means of taking care of myself and my body. Such as eating correctly, why it is important to stay fit, and how to workout in a way that I can reach my personal goal. I have had quite the experience with my mentor and all the new training exercises that continually come my way. Not only have we received  comments and suggestions from our mentor, but also for our fellow bloggers. They too have also been a huge help in motivating us and giving impute into things I would never had thought of. Their comments play and hopefully will continue to play a huge role in the success of this journey.

Concerning the workout plan itself, with the guidance of our mentor, my brother and I have found that this mix of HIIT/Strength training plan has really taken a huge stride to helping us reach our goals. For myself and my physical goals, I have found myself to be doing more strength training, and somewhat less HIIT training; because of my personal goal to become stronger. We have had people from within our personal lives tell us that they will be starting our workout plan and be test subjects for us. We still have yet to see how this works for them. From the suggestions of our mentor, not much is going to need to be changed about this workout plan other than possibly some dietary issues. Which may include what to eat before and after our workout and how much. Similarly from the comments that we have received from other bloggers, there is still little change that will be needed for our project.

My brother and I have come quite a ways from the way that we had used to workout, to the way the we now workout. I personally can fell such a difference in my body and am seeing results continually come from this workout plan; and I hope that others will also see the effectiveness of this plan. Please do check out my brother's blog at: brosandfitness.blogspot.com.

  1. Is there a certain length of exercise you do? Do you make sure to go to the gym every day of the week or only when you find it convenient?

    1. Depending on the type of workout you do, the time range of the workout can vary. When it comes to strength workout, you go off of the number of reps (typically between 12-15 reps) with an appropriate amount of weight for the individual; and also long periods of rest time. Where as in a cardio workout, such as HIIT, your workout is determined by short and fast intervals of different exercises with short rest time. For me personally, I make sure to almost daily go to the gym. However, there are times when I purposefully do not go to the gym in which case I am in my Rest Period, to which I allow my broken down muscles to regenerate and build back up bigger and stronger than before.

  2. Have you ever looked at Beachbody.com? My mom is a coach through it and has helped a lot of people achieve their goals.

  3. It's good to see you guys making progress. What kind of effects have you noticed after three weeks? Stamina increase, noticeably stronger, loss of fat, increase in diet, etc?

    1. The kinds of effects that I have noticed after three weeks was that my body is becoming stronger, not much fat loss (only that my body's lost as much fat as it can lose), and I feel my stamina increasing.

  5. I think its crazy that you've kept with this! I would never be able to stay completely dedicated to the daily workouts. Have you noticed any changes in your health?

    2. You mean Joel and I only started this plan three weeks ago... ;) Cameron and I have been posting two blogs on the same topic so its a team effort... just in case you haven't read Bros and Fitness.

Anyhow, I have a question for this "Cameron" person?
Are you still planning on posting those workout videos suggested by the readers? I think that would be cool if you could get that to work.

  6. Do you believe that different body types, people with unique health issues causing them to gain weight, and people with different metabolisms require different methods of training in order to lose weight? What would be your advise for those individuals who want to start eating right?

    1. Excellent question!! Depending on your physical fitness goal (whether its losing weight, gaining muscle and body building, or increasing speed), each workout plan will vary. Similarly to each person's workout plan, the kinds of food that people should eat also depends on the individual, their goal, and their body type.

    1. Yes, the "test subjects" are following a specific diet and fitness plan that is based around their goals.
